Tiptree Road Runners closing in on promotion

TIPTREE Road Runners moved closer to their goal of promotion to Pool A of the 53-12 Cross-Country League.

They won both men’s and women’s team events in the penultimate race at Martlesham Heath.

Sean Ketteridge was first home for the club in 15th place, followed by Craig Dawson in 35th and Adam Richardson, whose 38th place was a massive improvement on his previous league finish of 116th.

Simon Morgan completed the men’s scoring team in 41st spot, followed closely by James Haskey-Jones in 42nd.

Paul Dellar (64th), Jamie Fairfull (86th) and Andy Golding (87th) recorded their highest league finishes of the season.

Anthony Knight finished 124th, followed by Rob Hadgraft in 125th, Marcos Morley 141st and Jeff Fairfull 147th.

Vicky Knight led the victorious ladies team in 14th with Tracy Harrington 16th.

Tina Clarke (37th), Wendy Smalley (78th) and Rose Haskey-Jones (86th) gave great team support.

Abigail Morgan finished 32nd in the junior race. The final race in the Essex Cross-Country League was held in muddy conditions in Epping Forest.

Ted Skinner finished 96th on the day and 67th overall in the series.
