No goals for Heybridge Swifts

Heybridge Swifts and Witham Town couldn’t find a scoring touch.

The two sides fought out a goal-less draw at the Spicer McColl Stadium in their Ryman League division one north derby.

Swifts manager Mark Hawkes said: “It was a game of very few chances.

“The pitch wasn’t great and the ball didn’t run well.

“It was a match dominated by the centre-halves.”

Swifts had been in good goal scoring form recently but Hawkes’ side failed to trouble the scoresheet this time out.

Hawkes said: “We didn’t really create anything, their keeper only made one save and that was in the last quarter of the game.

“The match was played in the centre of the park.

“The ball spent a lot of time in the air.

“Witham wanted to play the long ball and we wanted to play it along the ground.

“But all credit to Witham, they worked hard and did their job well.”
