Deputy mayor's £5,000 chain missing

A £5,000 chain belonging to Basildon's deputy mayor has gone missing.

Chris Jackman has not seen the chain since he wore it to a scouting event in Ramsden Heath, Billericay in April this year.

it's in the same pace as that tapestry the Council lost. Either that or The Wodsman's wearing it.....

My wife is always misplacing her stuff. My question to her is always the same "where do you last remember having it?"

Last time she lost her watch it had fallen off the side of the sofa into her slipper. Oh how we laughed!

I wonder if the Deputy Mayor has checked his slipper.

You would think if something costs £5000 he would look after it better and know exactly where it is. Though why they don't keep it locked in a safe in the council offices when it is not needed I do not know.

He last saw it at a scouting event? Well, I never, the things they give out badges for in today's Scouts...

All together now: 'You gotta pick a pocket or two, boys, you gotta pick a pocket or two...'

He lost it so can we presume he will pay for it as well, or will the tax payer have to suffer?

It's insured. I'm sure the 'full story' in Thursday's Echo will simply be the paragraph above with a line about the insurance added...

You can insinuate and slur that an ethnic minority people, who are not likely to have seen the mayor never mind his chain, have stolen it but you DARE not say those who are in the council and therefore had a chance to shall we say...require the chain might of done so.If you do you are censored by the Echo admin! Racial slur is fine but dont say nothing about the council or councillors! Who says the Echo paper isn't corrupt...not I.

Its strange that the deputy mayor has only just noticed its missing or is it more a case of he kept stum and didnt let on. I suppose we the tax payer will have to fork out for a new one just until the insurence money comes in and then disappears into another pot. Possibly with the other chain

Rather he had gone missing, and we still had the chain.

it's being used, allegedly, as the bog chain in Tubby Blake's favourite cubicle (trap three) in the new 'cottage' he's had built in Lake Meadows It's in the next cubicle to the golden rivet......

I think it's a play on words.

Link as in chain and link as in hyperlink.

Quite clever actually.I might be wrong though. I'm sure King L will correct me if I am.

Five grand is a lot of money for a Deputy's chain. I dread to think what the main man's chain is worth !

The question I would ask is can this man be trusted as a councillor when clearly he is so careless when looking after the Boroughs' property?
