Motorists are advised to expect delays after a crash has left one person seriously injured.
The crash took place between j29 and j30 of the anti-clockwise carriageway at about 730pm and has left the road completely closed.
The clockwise carriageway has been closed for the air ambulance to land.
Police, ambulance and Highways officers are on scene.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or allow extra time to travel.

Update: The air ambulance has now left and the clockwise carriageway is open.
Police have released traffic in lane 4 of the anticlockwise carriageway.
Delays are expected until at least midnight.
Reports suggest the crash involved a pedestrian and an HGV but this has not been confirmed by ambulance or police at this stage.
