A TALENTED young student from Shoebury will be taking part in a nine-date tour of the UK with a dance company from one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in Britain.

Nineteen-year-old Charles Croysdill is a dance student at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts and is a member of the school’s Encore Dance Company, which will be showcasing an exciting programme of dance featuring a variety of genres from classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, commercial dance and more during their tour.

Charles is a dance captain and choreographer in the show.

And the youngster has always been hugely talented, launching his dancing career at just four-years-old taking any opportunity he could to take to the dance floor.

His favourite dance styles are commercial, jazz and contemporary, although he is comfortable in a full array of styles.

Upon graduating Tring Park, Charles has set his sights firmly on working as a commercial dancer on tours or television, or within a contemporary company.

The youngster admits the inspiration behind the three pieces he is choreographing is “loving what you are doing and expressing yourself”.

Tring Park School boasts a glittering alumni including director and choreographer Drew McOnie, who won the 2016 Olivier Award for best theatre choreographer for his work on In the Heights. He has also been nominated for the 2017 award for Jesus Christ Superstar and is currently directing and choreographing Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom in the West End, and King Kong on Broadway.

And Charles will be following in the footsteps of a host of top names who started their careers at Tring.

These include Daisy Ridley, who starred in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lily James, of Disney’s Cinderella, Downton Abbey and War and Peace, as well as Jessica Brown-Findlay of Downton Abbey.

Tring Park School for the Performing Arts is both a day school and a boarding school for children from eight to 19 years-old. The school is world famous for its dance credentials.

The tour began this week and visits theatres in Ipswich, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Brecon, Exeter, Bracknell and Sadler’s Wells in London.
