REMEMBER that all girl DJ gang, which took over the Middle Age Spread decks in Leigh to raise money for the Southend Hospital Breast Unit?

Well that they did, and four of the 10 tune laden ladies who went under the collective banner Lady Marmalade, visited the Southend Hospital Breast Unit recently to give over a cheque for £1217.16.

Jules Easlea, Pauline Godfrey, Kelly Brennan and Ondie Woods visited the Southend Hospital Breast Unit giving the staff the good news, following the sold-out fundraising disco night at Strictly Smartz in Leigh.

Lucy Lock, Community Fundraising Officer at Southend Hospital Charity said: “Our state of the art breast unit provides breast screening service for the local population and we currently diagnose and treat over 450 new breast cancers every year. "Money raised from the Lady Marmalade event will be used to help us to purchase vital equipment to enable us to continue to deliver first class patient care. Huge thanks to the organisers and to all those who bopped the night away to help raise such a fantastic amount for the Breast Unit.”
