A TEEN who was fatally attacked by a gang of men was heard screaming for help, a court heard.

Nico Ramsey, 19, died from knife wounds after he was stabbed in Napier Avenue, Southend, on February 13, 2016 which took place in broad daylight and in front of witnesses.

Allcie Houlder, 23, of no fixed address, is on trial for his murder at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Yesterday, the jury heard how Mr Ramsay was seemingly helpless when the attack happened.

One witness, who cannot be named, described witnessing a “gang” attack Mr Ramsay.

Speaking from behind a screen, she said: “Once he was on the ground they started punching and kicking him. He was screaming and trying to protect himself and asking for help.

“The gang chased after him and pulled him to the ground. He was screaming help me.”

Another witness Bruce Thompson said: “I saw a group of men all standing in the middle of the road.

“One of them was lying on the ground, trying to protect himself with his arms.

“The man on the ground, who looked a lot younger, was not directing threats back.

“From the way it looked, he was on his own. None of the others seemed to want to help him in any way. They looked like they liked the power they had over this guy that they were clearly threatening.

“One man, who I assumed to be the leader, grabbed hold of the man and pulled him towards the pavement. The dragging across the road was very slow and deliberate. He obviously wanted to cause the man pain.”

Previously, the prosecution told the jury they believed the man who dragged him to be Nathan Sylvester, 26, of Perth Road, Plaistow, who used to employ Nico as a drug runner until they “fell out”.

It is the prosecution’s case that Houlder was present during the attack and delivered the two fatal stab wounds which cost Mr Ramsay his life. Houlder denies murder. The trial continues.
