A car has knocked down a village hall's front entrance, leaving the driver with serious injuries.
The crash happened today at around 11.30am at Woodham Ferrers Village Hall in Main Road. The car smashed the village's hall front entrance, with bricks collapsing onto the vehicle and a large crack on the front door.
Police, ambulance and Essex Fire were called to the scene at around 11.45am. Two fire engines from South Woodham Ferrers and Rayleigh Weir worked with paramedics to help release one casualty trapped as a result of the crash.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “One ambulance, one ambulance officer, two rapid response vehicles, four units from our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended the scene. One patient was taken to hospital in a serious condition.”
