A man was threatened with a variety of weapons after two men broke into his home and then burgled it.

Police are appealing for information about the aggravated burglary, which happened off Heath Road, Grays, yesterday evening.

Two men smashed a back door window and gained entry to the property at around 8pm.

They threatened the occupant with a screwdriver, crowbar and knife and then left with jewellery, men’s watches, a phone and a four-figure sum of cash.

The men left through the front door where a third suspect was seen before they drove off.

The victim suffered a minor injury to his hand during the incident but did not require hospital treatment.

The suspects have been described as being black, around 5ft 10ins, of a medium build and wearing hoodies.

Investigating officer Dc Mark Cotgrove, of Grays CID, said: “We are treating this as a targeted incident with suspects forcing their way through the property and threatening the occupant before carrying out a search of the building.

“They have left with expensive watches and jewellery and a large amount of cash. The victim escaped with a minor hand injury and has been left shaken by the ordeal.

“I would urge anyone with information to call Grays CID on 101 quoting incident 952 of 20/11 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
