A man was hit with a hammer when he had gone to an address to fix a roof.
The victim, in his 40s, had an unknown substance sprayed in his face and was assaulted with a hammer.
The incident happened Saturday November 11 at around 7.45am, in Frobisher Way, Shoebury.
He was left needing stitches to his head.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "A rapid response vehicle and ambulance crew attended this on Saturday November 11.
"He was taken to Southend University Hospital for further care."
