There are delays for any commuters heading to London this morning after a lorry caught fire in the early hours.

Three out of four lanes remain closed on the A2 while the scene is dealt with by the emergency services.

Firefighters were called to the London bound carriageway near the Northfleet and Ebbsfleet turn off just before 3am.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a high-pressure hose reel jet with compressed air foam, fog spike and cold-cut firefighting equipment to extinguish the blaze which is concentrated in the cab of the lorry.

Three crews are still there and it is thought delays will continue until 10.45am.

There are no reported injuries, and it's believed the lorry contained Lion bars.

The fire has now been extinguished but the lane closures are also causing delays on the M20, A249, and other local routes.

Drivers are warned to allow extra time for their journeys.
