FAMILIES and residents got into the festive spirit with the Christmas light switch on event in Tilbury.
Crowds of people descended on Civic Square, Tilbury tonight for the special event.
There was plenty of entertainment and Christmas cheer and as the mayor of Thurrock helped turn the lights on snow began to fall on the people.
The event was run by the Tilbury Riverside Project, and it was another big hit.
As the countdown began to the main event, the atmosphere was electric and everybody at the event joined in with the big countdown.
There was plenty pf entertainment on the main stage including dancing and singing youngsters.
The streets were lined with exciting and flashing rides, stalls and there was even an old steam engine.
