THERE'S just over one week to go until Rochford District Council’s thirteenth Wild Woods Day, and to help get you in the mood for some family fun Max The Dragon and Ollie the Octopus are trying out some of the fantastic events on offer.

Residents are invited to come along on Saturday June 4, between 11am and 4pm, and visit one of the exciting zones.

In the Active Zone, sponsored by Potters of Hockley, you will find the climbing wall, smoothie bike, pop-up tennis, pop-up cricket, parkour, paintballing, fencing and fusion lifestyle boot camp.

In the create and play zone, sponsored by Peaceful Place, discover the World of Beatrix Potter, with a Beatrix Potter storyteller, Squirrel Nutkins walkabout act, dressing up station, colouring and drawing station and make and take arts and crafts.

There will also be face painting, rare owls and a ‘We're Going on a Bear Hunt’ story trail in this fun-filled zone.

Venture deeper into the woods to explore the Wild Zone, sponsored by Amos Estates, where you can take part in activities such as Archery, Axe Throwing, Pioneering and Tent Building, or simply join the Scouts around the camp fire for some time out and have a go at Bushcraft.

Radio Essex are back to host the stage, sponsored by Wells Legal, with a packed schedule of exciting acts and entertainment, from singers and dancers, to hula hooping and African drumming. Enjoy the music whilst you take a stroll around the pop-up market place.

Take a break for lunch in the dedicated food and picnic area where you will find a hog roast, gourmet burgers and hot dogs, fresh Italian coffee, Rossi’s ice cream, craft beers and traditional soft drinks.

There is no on-site parking in Hockley Woods at Wild Woods Day.

A shuttle bus service, sponsored by A Plus Security, will run from Hockley Community Centre and Hockley Primary School throughout the day.

However please be aware that parking spaces are limited, so visitors are encouraged to walk or take public transport where possible
