A CRUMBLING historic clock is due to be dismantled and stored away until it can be repaired.
Parts of the clock suspended above Southend High Street fashion store Yours have broken away and fallen to the ground.
Scaffolding had to be erected around the clock that once graced R A Jones jewellers store.
The store, which was badly damaged in the Second World War, belonged to Southend benefactor Mr Jones, who gifted Priory Park and the Jones memorial ground to the town.
The clock will be kept safe until it can be restored at a cost of an estimated £16,000
The Ros Southend Past in Photos Facebook group, which supplied these photographs, is keen to ensure the clock's future.
