A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a crash in Basildon.
A 68-year-old man was struck by a white Nissan panel van just after 1.30pm today in Timberlog Lane, Basildon.
Police closed Timberlog Lane between Kirby Road and Luncies Road.
The man was taken to Basildon Hospital with leg injuries.
Paramedics were called at 1.35pm following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a van.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "An ambulance crew and response car from Herts Air Ambulance attended.
"They treated a man who had suffered a leg injury after becoming trapped under a van.
"He was taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further treatment.
"The air ambulance medics also travelled in the land ambulance to help treat the patient.
"His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
A 21-year-old man from Chigwell was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
The man has been released on bail until January 29.
