ENTRIES have flooded in from buttock-baring adrenaline junkies trying to set new Guinness World Record for the most people riding a rollercoaster naked.

The naked daredevils will ride the Green Scream, at Southend’s Adventure Island, on October 25, as they try to top the 102 thrill-streakers who rode the same ride in 2010 and raised more than £20,000 for Southend Hospital’s Bosom Pals Appeal.

With a little over two weeks to go to the big day, organisers have already been contacted by more than 70 people who are interested in taking on the naked challenge, but need more volunteers to break the record.

Marc Miller, managing director of Adventure Island, said: “We’ve had more than 70 people contact us about the new record attempt and of that number, half are already confirmed and fundraising hard.

“However we need 102 people to better our previous record, so are now appealing for more people to get in touch and help us raise money for a really worthy cause.” All participants are asked to raise a minimum of £100 for Southend Hospital’s Keyhole Cancer Appeal, which is aiming to raise £600,000 to provide a state-of-the-art keyhole surgery theatre suite.

Many of this year’s participants took part in the initial record setting five years ago, some of whom are cancer sufferers and survivors who are now in remission.

New entries for this year have come from far and wide, with naturists and thrill seekers willing to make a long journey to take part in the record attempt.

Mr Miller added: “We’ve had an entire rugby team and a group of drama students contact us, which was very exciting.

“We’ve also got people travelling from Edinburgh, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Swindon just to take part.

“Funnily enough, we’ve had quite a few of the original thrill-streakers from five years ago say they want to join in the new attempt – many of them cancer survivors who are a real inspiration. “Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie, exhibitionist, nudist or someone whose life has been affected by cancer, we’d love to see you get on board for the ride of your life. After all, you could be helping to save one.”
