Popular local open mic night Thames Delta will host one of the main stages at the Village Beach Festival this summer.

The one day fest on July 18 will see Thames Delta organiser Dorion Quest take on the stage to give new talent a chance to shine - as well as showcase up-and-coming acts.

He will be helped by James Phillips and Chay Appleyard, Phoenix FM DJs, hosting on stage.

Popular musicians who launched their careers through the Thames Delta open mic nights include Tall Dark Friend, Ren Stedman, Little Kingdom and Finding Miranda, who will perform on the day.

Dorion, who is known for his work in the community as well as a successful electronica career, said:

"There will be a fun and entertaining line up of original music throughout the day from local artists and bands for both young and mature tastes. We want it to be a fun day out for the whole family!"

As well as performances, Quest Music Services will also be running a whole series of workshops in Dj-ing, Radio Presenting, Singing-Songwriting, Positive Rap and Music Therapy.

Trained music tutors will run the workshops from 11am to 6pm and the day will finish with a bang when participants' can showcase their performances to the general public between 6pm and 8pm.

Local DJs from Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions, a social enterprise run by and for disabled people, will also be providing the music on the main stage between acts.
