BASILDON’S grunge favourites, Jacksons Warehouse, are set to take an army of local fans on a jolly to the big smoke tonight, when they play at the Garage in Islington.

It’s a bit of a coup for the five-piece. They say that despite performing in London on many occasions, to play in a venue such as the Garage is pretty special.

Marc Barnacle, guitarist, said: “We are headlining there, and are pretty excited about it. We’ve wanted to play at the Garage for years, so we’re all thrilled to be asked to come and play there.

“Our good friends, the Klik, are supporting us and we are taking a bus load of people up from Basildon. It’s going to be big.”

It’s a double decker bus, promising lots of space, but fans are advised to book ahead, via the Jackson Warehouse band page on Facebook.

Marc said: “There will probably still be spaces at the last minute, because the bus is so big, but it is better if people can let us know who wants to come, just to make sure and so we have an idea of numbers.”

Seats on the bus will be £10. It leaves Basildon station at 7pm and is expected to return from London between 1am and 2am.

The gig is just one of the many exciting things the band has in the pipeline, including a forthcoming new release.

Watch this space.

Jacksons Warehouse are: Rich Hawkins (bass); CY Chant (percussion); Marc Barnacle (guitar); Simon Brown (keys/sounds/vocals) and Stuart Brown (guitar/ vocals).
