THURROCK Council will be closing junctions to and from the North Stifford Interchange for resurfacing work on several nights at the end of April.

All the closures and diversions will be signposted. The work will take place between 9pm and 5.30am on the nights of Tuesday, April 28, through to Friday, May 1.

Planned resurfacing work is taking place, but the council will also be undertaking some preparatory work for the installation of traffic light signals at the roundabout – an area that scores high on the borough’s accident prevention list.

Work will begin on the interchange roundabout on Monday, April 27, when there will be lane closures, but junction closures will start the following night.

On Tuesday, April 28, the A13’s westbound (London-bound) off slip to the roundabout, along with the Stifford Clays Road junction and the A1012 link road southbound (towards Grays) will be closed to traffic. The signed diversion for A13 and A1012 traffic will be via Junction 30/31 of the M25, the A1306 Arterial Road, and the Treacle Mine roundabout.

For traffic wishing to use Stifford Clays Road the diversion route will be via Crammavill Street, Crawford Avenue, Long Lane, the Treacle Mine roundabout and vice versa.

The following night, April 29, the A13 westbound (London bound) on slip to the A13 and A1012 link road northbound (towards the A13) will be closed to traffic.

The signed diversion route will be via the Treacle Mine roundabout, A1306 Arterial Road, and Junctions 30/31 of the M25. On 30 April the A13 eastbound (Southend bound) off slip to the roundabout will close - the signed diversion route for eastbound traffic will be via the A128 Orsett Cock Interchange.

Finally, on May 1, the High Road, North Stifford junction will be closed and traffic wishing to access North Stifford will be diverted via the Treacle Mine, the A1306 Arterial Road, Pilgrims Lane, and into High Road and the village from the west.
