THURROCK performer Scroobius Pip is urging people to save the borough's libraries by taking a "shelfie" with their favourite book.
The famous Xfm DJ and performance poet’s mother is the head librarian at Grays and he tweeted a pic of himself with his favourite book The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa from Grays library, with the hashtag #shelfie, to show his support for the Save Our Libraries campaign.
The shelfies are people with their favourite book in front of their bookcases or in their local library.
Comedian and author Russell Brand has also thrown his weight behind the campaign to save Thurrock Libraries.
Scroobious, from Stanford-le-Hope, has also written a poem praising his local library - which was also made into a video. Click here to see his video.
