FIRE CREWS were called to help a horse who became trapped in a drainage ditch in Grays.
Crews, including an animal rescue unit from South Woodham Ferrers, were sent to the site in Gypsy Lane just before 11am on New Year’s Day. The horse was trapped up to its hind legs in water.
They were sent to the scene after members of the public put themselves at risk by attempting to rescue the trapped animal.
By 11.15pm, fire fighters reported that they had made the area safe, and my 12.30pm the animal was released.
