SOUTHEND coastguard was called out to a bomb scare and a jet skier in trouble.

At 2.46pm yesterday, the coastguard investigated a report of ordnance at East Beach, Shoebury, thought the item was later confirmed not to be ordnance and was removed from the beach.

At 5.56pm, multiple 999 calls were received reporting a jet ski in difficulty off Shoebury with its occupant in the water.

A coastguard team was sent to investigate and it was established the jet ski had broken down but was found to have been restarted and all its occupants confirmed safe and well.
