Toploader front man Joe Washbourn is expecting a lot of dancing in the moonlight when the band perform at Braintree’s summer festival this Friday.

The singer said he still loves performing the hit track that propelled them to fame in the late 90s, but admits he hardly has to sing the lyrics these days.

“I just turn the mic around and let the crowd do the work,” he laughs.

And it’s no surprise considering the single, released in 2000, sold more than two million copies and stayed in the album chart top five for more than six months.

But when Toploader decided to have a break in 2003, Washbourn admits he and his bandmates had reached a point where they were no longer enjoying being in the limelight.
