Parks awarded prestigious Green Flags
9:00am Tuesday 17th July 2012 in North Essex By James Dwan
GREEN spaces in Tendring have again been recognised as some of the best in the country.
Clacton’s seafront and gardens and Frinton’s Crescent Gardens have both been handed the prestigious Green Flags Award, which is run by Keep Britain Tidy.
It means the gardens will have the right to proudly fly the flag for another 12 months.
The seafront and gardens have scooped the award every year since it first entered in 2009, as has Crescent Gardens, which first entered a year later.
Tendring Council leader Neil Stock said the awards are a real feather in the cap for the area.
“We are very fortunate in Tendring to have a vast array of wonderful open spaces and a fantastic variety of natural environment to make the most of,” he said.
“They can be enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike and we are rightly proud of what we have on offer across the district.
“I am delighted that all the hard work by council staff and our community partners that goes into the seafront and gardens in Clacton, and the Crescent Gardens in Frinton has paid off and been recognised by independent judges.”
