Beer-lovers call on Tendring residents to support local pubs

REAL ale fans from across Tendring have called on people to support their community pubs.

The Tendring branch of the Campaign for Real Ale is concerned about the number of pubs that have closed.

But branch chairman Jeff Luesley told the branch’s annual meeting he was pleased that almost 90 of the district’s 105 pubs now offer real ale.

The meeting was held at Old Lifeboat House, Clacton, which was this year named as the branch’s pub of the year, on Tuesday.

“We are very conscious of the need to support our local pubs and to promote them as an important part of the community,” said Mr Luesley.

“By taking our meetings right around the district and by spreading our campaigning activities as wide as possible Tendring CAMRA is constantly reminding people that there is nothing like the great British pub.

Over the past year, the branch held three beer festivals and organised a number of events for Community Pubs Month.
