A DRIVER from Clacton has been jailed for more than six months for a string of driving offences.

Simon Warcup, 50, of London Road, Clacton, was jailed for a total of 25 weeks and disqualified from driving for four years.

Warcup's conviction was a result of Essex Police's Christmas anti-drink and drug driving campaign last year, which saw a total of 148 people arrested within December 2017.

Warcup was arrested at 10.42pm on December 19 in Clacton High Street.

This week, he was jailed for 16 weeks and disqualified for four years for failing to provide a specimen when asked, plus nine weeks to run consecutively for sending a letter, communication or article threatening message.

Additionally, Warcup received a concurrent sentence of a week in prison, and an additional concurrent week for failing to attend court.

He will also pay £620 in costs, £600 in compensation, and £115 in victim surcharges for criminal damage.
