Three men were hospitalised following a disturbance in Braintree after the football on Wednesday.

Two men were involved in an argument, in Tabor Avenue, with three men before punching them.

One of the victims suffered a fractured jaw while another suffered a fractured cheek. They have both been discharged from hospital.

The other victim, a 22-year-old man from Braintree, was knocked to the floor during the assault and was taken to hospital with a fracture to the skull. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Police were called at around 10.40pm. 

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We arrested a 19-year-old man from Braintree on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm and a 20-year-old man from Braintree on suspicion of grievous bodily harm the following day.

"They have since been released on bail until Thursday, August 9."
