POOCHES and their owners have helped raise thousands of pounds at a charity dog show.

Acorn Village, a charity for adults with learning disabilities in Mistley, held its annual dog show on Saturday, July 7.

The show, now in its sixth year, ran an array of competition classes, stalls, and entertainment throughout the day.

Kate Williams, of Acorn Village, said: “Thank you to everyone who attended the Acorn Village Dog Show to help raise funds for adults with learning disabilities at the Acorn Village Charity.

“After rain last year, we didn’t expect a heatwave, we were so grateful to Marie and Stelios, from Highcliff Veterinary Surgery, for their advice and support throughout the day, as well as their fabulous judging skills.

“It was wonderful to see the dogs enjoying the cool down pools and taking advantage of the free wet towels.

“A huge thank you to all of the volunteers, demonstrators and sponsors.”

The 1334 Manningtree Squadron Air Cadets also helped out during and after the event.

Kate also thanked the visitors who came out in the heatwave.

She added: “You’ve helped raise over £3,000 to improve the lives of adults with learning disabilities.”
