A dynamic duo of springer spaniels are celebrating six months keeping passengers safe at Stansted Airport and making many new friends along the way.

Police Dogs Buddy and Holly began working alongside their handlers Pc Mark Webster and Pc Hayley Peek in October as part of Essex Police's Project Servator.

Since starting their new careers, the twosome have built up a fearsome reputation for sniffing out trouble in all its forms.

But as well as helping officers spot people with criminal intent, the pair of pooches have become firm favourites of both passengers and staff at the airport.

Pc Darren Potts said: "Project Servator is all about working with the community and it’s amazing some of the things that people tell us, even from a quick five minute chat when passing through the airport.

"It sees the deployment of both highly visible and covert police officers supported by a wide range of assets used to deter, detect and disrupt terrorism and other crime.

“Buddy and Holly had really big paws to fill following the retirement of Police Dog Shifty, and I’m pleased to say they’ve risen to the challenge.”
