A MULTI-million pound investment to upgrade and install Wi-Fi on commuter trains from Tendring to London is set to be complete by the end of the year.

Greater Anglia is investing £4.5 million for the upgrade so the 907,000 passengers who use the services each month can connect and use the internet for free.

Currently the Class 321 Renatus trains which run between Clacton, Colchester and London Liverpool Street are in the process of being revamped, with 11 out of 30 trains completed so far.

Work will start on the Class 360 and Class 317 trains, which operate commuter services from Essex to Liverpool Street, will be complete by the summer.

As part of the revamp engineers will be installing Connect which will allow passengers to watch Now TV and Hayu TV.

Project manager, Vrushik Patel, said: “It will save passengers money, provide free entertainment and improve our passengers’ journey experience.”
