Elliot and Jack are just two of a team of daring fundraisers who will be taking part in a sponsored charity abseil.
The abseil will raise vital funds for the mayor’s three charities: City of Chelmsford Mencap, Age Concern Chelmsford, and Columbus School and College, all of which work with and provide support to some of the most vulnerable people in the community.
The abseil is one event in a year of fundraising co-ordinated by the mayor of Chelmsford, his team, and the three charities.
Elliot is a student at City of Chelmsford Mencap which provides lifelong support for people with a learning disability, and relies on grants, donations, and events such as this one to run its services.
He said “ I am really excited to do the abseil – I’m wearing my cape, like a proper superhero!”
Jack Saveall, a staff member of Mencap Chelmsford, said: “I can’t quite believe on Friday I’ll be dangling 40ft above the ground in a cape. It’s for three good causes though, so I guess it’ll be worth it.”
The abseil will run from 10am to 3pm on both March 23 and 24 at Chelmsford County Hall
It is open to all above the age of 11, booking in advance is £20, or pay £25 on the day. Email helena.nussey@cityofchelmsfordmencap.co.uk for more information.
