See the stars of tomorrow, today, when students from University Centre Colchester’s musical theatre course take to the stage.
Following All Shook Up and Big Fish, 24 young performers will be taking to the Mercury Theatre stage next week appearing in Honk.
Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling, Honk tells the story of Ugly who goes on a musical adventure of self-discovery, meeting a whole flock of unique characters to find out that being different is not such a bad thing.
Directed and choreographed by Andy Edwards, among the cast for the final year three show will be Sophie Knights and Sophie Holland, who were last seen in Colchester Operatic Society’s Hairspray back in January.
Andy says: “We’ve done our final shows in lots of different venues in the past but you cannot beat the Mercury. It’s just such a great experience for all the students involved and gives them a great taste of the professional stage ahead of them.”
Honk is at the Mercury on Wednesday and Thursday, March 28 and 29 at 7.30pm with an extra 1pm show on the Thursday. For tickets call 01206 763618 or go on-line at mercurytheatre.co.uk
