More than 250 attended a jobs fair to receive advice and support on their future career moves.

The event, organised by Braintree Council and Job Centre Plus, was a big success with everyone who attended saying they would encourage others to attended.

This is the fourth year the council has organised the fair, which took place at its offices in Causeway House, Bocking End, Braintree, on Saturday.

Tom Cunningham, councillor responsible for economic development, said: "This was once again a hugely successful Job Fair and we received some great feedback from residents and employers.

"It’s our chance to help local businesses solve their recruitment needs as well as supporting residents into their next job opportunity and we’re delighted to work with Job Centre Plus to play our part in this.”

Dozens of employers and training providers from across the district were in attendance to support job seekers.

Gosfield based engineering business Transporter were one of the firms in attendance.

Isla Gill, sales and project manager at the business, said: "The Job fair is a great opportunity for Transporter Engineering to meet prospective employees in an informal setting, perhaps reaching out to future employees that wouldn’t necessarily know that our business has opportunities available.

"It’s also a fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded businesses within the district and support each other, we at Transporter would like to congratulate Braintree Council and the Job Centre for another successful event.”
