Colchester's real life Santa Stuart Bull

Stuart is Colchester’s real life Santa and has got his authentic look down to a tee.

The 44-year-old, who runs his own accountancy business when he is not spreading goodwill, has been taking on the role of Father Christmas for 17 years.

He said his friendly and fun-loving personality helps create the magic and to add a touch of authenticity, he colours his robust beard white to avoid any costume disasters.

Each year, Stuart, of Roosevelt Way, Colchester, and his elves tour Colchester in his sleigh, visiting children and collecting money for charity.

Last year, they collected £24,000 for worthy causes in exchange for a friendly wave and the odd photo opportunity.

Mr Bull has proudly named himself Colchester’s greatest Santa.

He said: “I started off doing private functions because I enjoy giving people Christmas spirit. People can’t stop waving and smiling.

“I met with Dave Harris last year as he has the same drive as me and now we can raise even more money for charity.

“I was struggling on my own but now we have 12 sleigh routes planned.

“You can see everybody loves it. Making someone smile doesn’t cost anything and that’s the magic of Christmas.”

On his convincing look he said: “When you wear the suit you have to do it properly, you become Santa. The beard is real, it’s just sprinkled with a bit of elf dust.”

Colchester Foodbank and the Colchester Children’s Charity Appeal are set to benefit from Stuart’s festive favours this year.

Stuart also visits poorly children and the elderly to share the magic of Christmas in the run up to the big day.

He will be spreading festive magic from December 10 to 21.

He thanked his family for their support while he is pre-occupied before Christmas.
