One of the most popular events in the estuary town’s summer calendar. Registration is from 10.30am with the competition starting half an hour later. As always it’s not the amount of carbs but the heaviest with first prize picking up £25, second £15 and third £10. People taking part should bring their own bait, buckets and lines but remember there’s no hooks allowed.

Launched as part of the Colchester Arts Centre’s Street Hunt, where people find the names of local streets to win up to £10,000, this is a collection of beautiful images taken by service users of Beacon House, the local charity that offers help and support to homeless people, those in insecure accommodation and those at high risk of homelessness.

Now a worldwide phenomenon, this is the first event of its kind in Colchester, consisting of workshops, live music, a cabaret hosted by Colchester’s very own Alice d’Luminaire and of course a Rocky Horror sing-a-long.
