A MAJOR town centre road is set to be closed overnight for the next three days as engineers continue work to add extra lanes of traffic.
Colne Bank Avenue, Colchester, will be shut between 8pm and 5am tonight, on Thursday and Friday as part of the Essex Highways programme to improve traffic flow in the area.
Road bosses could also shut the road on Saturday night if they do not complete the work on time.
The widening of the road is part of a £25m project to improve traffic flow along the A133 and ties in with planned works on Cowdray Avenue and Westway.
A spokesman for Essex Highways said: "Appropriate traffic management will be in place throughout the works with diversions signposted.
"Thank you for your continued patience as these works progress."
Work on the road was initially supposed to be complete by late last year, but The Gazette revealed earlier this month completion is not likely until the end of August.
