A MAN was rushed to hospital following a crash involving a car and a moped in the city.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in in Beehive Lane, between the junctions of Skinners Lane and Stock Road shortly before 5.25pm yesterday.

Police, the ambulance service and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance all attended and the road was closed in both directions, but reopened at about 6pm.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We received a call yesterday at around 4.30pm to reports of an RTC involving a motorbike and a car on Beehive Lane.

“We dispatched a rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew, and an air ambulance from the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAA). At the scene medics assessed a man believed to be in his 50s for a lower leg injury before taking him to Broomfield Hospital via land ambulance for further care. He is believed to be in a stable condition.”

A 76-year-old man has been reported for careless driving.
