A CROWDFUNDING campaign to support a tragic motorcyclist's family after he died in a crash has raised more than £500.

The Go Fund Me page was set up for Ronnie Sheehan's family by friend Chris Clements, of Clacton, with the aim of donating £1,000 to Mr Sheehan’s wife.

Keen motorcyclist Mr Sheehan, who was 36, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash with a van in Marine Parade East in Clacton last Wednesday night.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Clacton, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on bail until Friday, June 30.

Mr Clements' fundraiser is one of many grand gestures in tribute to the family man and well-known biker.

So far two ride outs have left from the cafe in St Osyth Road, in memory of Mr Sheehan, ending at Marine Parade East and the Bungalow Diner, Marks Tey.

He said: “Knowing he’s left behind four broken-hearted children and a wife is exactly why I started the page.

“His death has had an impact on the bike community within Clacton and the surrounding areas.

“Also knowing how kind-hearted bikers are, I just know everyone would love to help his family at this difficult time and want to help give him the best send-off.”

Mr Clements met the dad-of-four a year ago through mutual friends at Fossils Cafe.

He added: “We’d been to the Great Bentley bike meet a few times as a group and would always meet Ronnie over there.

“He was such a lovely guy and always up for a chat. Even when you bumped into him, he always had something nice or funny to say. You just couldn’t fault his personality.”
