PARENTS are being invited to a series of free NHS workshops focusing on childhood illnesses.

The Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (MECCG) ran a first set of workshops in November and after receiving positive feedback are hosting a second round in March.

Mums, dads and carers will be provided with practical advice about dealing with common illnesses aimed at helping build confidence.

Feedback from the previous events showed 100 percent of parents would recommend them.

Dr Ahmed Mayet, Clinical Lead for MECCG and a GP in Witham, said: “We want to help local parents and carers feel more in control and supported, which was why we were delighted to see so many engaged with the workshops in November.

“When a child falls ill, a lot of parents naturally become very anxious and unsure about what they should do or which health service to access.

“Through the workshops we want to empower parents to spot the signs of some of the more common childhood illnesses and what to do for help and support if they need it.”

Workshops take place on:

Thursday March, 2 between 12.45pm and 2.30pm at Harlequin Children's Centre, Spa Road, Witham

Thursday March, 2 between 8pm and 8.30pm at Braintree Council's offices, Bocking End, Braintree

Wednesday March, 8 between 10am and noon at Carousel Children's Centre, on Chapel Hill, Braintree
