A FORMER film producer has released a timely fourth novel just days away from the inauguration of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States.

John Sealey started writing A Rainy Day on Wall Street after developing an interest in America’s financial crashes over the decades and the build-up to the shock 2016 presidential American election result.

The Clacton-based author’s book covers an atypical outlook on the 2016 presidential election through the eyes of two individual characters from opposite ends of the political spectrum in New York City.

John said: “I started writing A Rainy Day on Wall Street about a year ago and modified it with the news that Donald Trump won the election.

“The book delves into the everyday lives of two characters from opposite ends of the political spectrum, taking place during the run up to the presidential election.

“The story builds from their first accidental meeting at a political demonstration in Wall Street and builds on from there.”

Within the novel, John weaves in historical references about American politics, war and a range of other historical topics relevant to the election.

John said: “The damage behind America’s banking crises over the decades was the motivation to write this book and I wanted to cover the aftermath of the crash, which leads into the election.

“The aim of the book is to give a better understanding of troubles in the world and explore the differences between the rich and the poor in America.

“As I bring in the presidential election I explore the different promises on infrastructure that both Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton made leading up to the result, and explore what either could do if elected.”

Within the book the two main characters learn how the other lives, with many politically-based arguments along the way.

John said: “The book brings out how each of the characters was brought up differently in areas of New York and covers how society is angled towards the rich.”
