A STAGE school and theatre company are on the lookout for rising stars of musical theatre.

Stageability Theatre, who are based at the Vestry Hall, Braintree, are on the lookout for actors this December between the age of eight and 18 for their latest production.

The group will be performing musical Hairspray at Witham’s Public Hall in April next year.

First a film in the 80s, the now classic musical soon made its way to Broadway in New York and the West End of London, and has gone on to be hugely successful even winning awards along the way.

In 2003 the stage adaptation won an incredible eight Tony Awards, the highest honour in musical theatre.

The show is fun packed and the songs have become very popular with people of all ages and huge stars including John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer starred in the 2007 remake.

For those thinking of auditioning, no experience is required and the team will take you through all that you need to know, using their experience from previous shows like Joseph, Les Miserables and West Side Story to ensure everyone has a great time.

Rehearsals take place on Friday evenings after school hours and are packed full of music, song and dance.

Kids won’t be thrown in at the deep end and all rehearsals start with a friendly getting to know you session before moving on at a pace that the group is comfortable with.

The theatre company provide all the materials and music to sing along to and when the performers are ready for the big time at the performance on April 6, 7 and 8, the costumes, scenery and crew will also be provided.

This is a rare opportunity for each child to be involved in a professionally run stage production managed by a dedicated and passionate team of professionals.

An information pack on the project can be provided for those who want to learn more.
