A car fire has closed part of the A12
A car fire closed a section of the A12.
The car was in a lay-by between junction 22, Witham north, and junction 21, Witham south.
Two fire crews, one from Coggeshall and one from Tiptree, were called to the blaze at 6.16pm today, July 2.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire by 6.45pm.
The road was closed by Essex Police because smoke was affecting traffic.
It has now reopened.
