A VETERINARY practice held their annual open day for clients and members of the public.

Millennium Veterinary practice, on Millennium Way in Braintree, were also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the practice on June 12.

There was a raffle and competitions on the day, with the proceeds going to the Essex Air Ambulance.

The practice has grown considerably in 50 years and now employs 72 members of staff at its branches in Braintree and Coggeshall.

It is also a training centre for veterinary nurses, has accredited tier 2 practice status and takes referrals for pets from across Essex and Suffolk.

Spencer Bayer, who founded the practice in 1966 with Tony Farrow, said: "It gave me an immense amount of pleasure and pride to see what Tony and I started all those years ago had developed into such caring, progressive and flourishing practice.

"Tony and I were very very privileged and so fortunate to have been associated with such wonderful colleagues, nurses, secretaries and receptionists."
