CLACTON lifeboat was launched to help a fundraiser who had become severely seasick while attempting to row around the UK.
A team of rowers took to the water in a 27-ft Australian surf boat on May 7, leaving from Bournemouth.
They planned to spend 100 days at sea, rowing 2,500 miles around the coast to raise cash for charity.
But they called for help when they were near the Clacton coast at about 3am on Sunday morning.
The lifeboat was launched and found the surf boat.
Crew members found one of the fundraisers was exhausted and had developed seasickness.
He was taken onboard the lifeboat and taken to Brightlingsea harbour, where he was handed over into the care of waiting paramedics.
Clacton’s lifeboat then returned to get the surf boat, towing it into Brightlingsea with the other fundraisers still onboard.
They met coastguards to talk about their options while the lifeboat went back to the station.
