Heartless thieves have been branded the “lowest of the low” after stealing the loose change from two little girls’ moneyboxes.

Burglars raided the Frozen branded tins belonging to seven year-old Jessica Lee and her six-year-old sibling, Daisy, as they ransacked a house for cash.

Dad Steven Lee, 32, said: “It’s quite sickening really. They literally only went for money. They took about £15-worth of change.

“We had to go out and buy new pots because we didn’t want them to notice this had happened. They would be devastated.

“They left my PlayStation. They opened the laptop, but left it.

“But they went through every single cupboard and even the breadbin.

"They were only interested in gold and money. They must be the lowest of the low to steal from two little girls’ money boxes.”

To compound their crimes, the thieves stuffed their loot, including jewellery, into Notley Primary School pupil Daisy’s school bookbag.

Burglars also stole a games console and games from a house in Park Drive, Braintree, on the same day.

The thieves smashed a side window to get in some time between 1.30pm and 9.50pm on March 18.

An Essex Police spokesman said it was too early to say if the two incidents were linked.

Anyone with information about either incident should call 101
