SPECIALIST officers dedicated to combating organised gang and gun violence have raided a house in Colchester.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Trident team arrested two men and a woman at a property in Madeley Close, in Colchester yesterday.

A “high value” quantity of cash and jewellery were seized in the raid.

Residents spoke of their shock first at the arrival of police and then after hearing why they were there.

One said: “Three or four cars came down the road. You could see from their IDs they were police.

“One officer jumped into the garden, others went around the side and there were the ones at the front with the metal bar.”

Another neighbour said the people in the raided home had been at the address for a “couple of months”.

She added: “They have been really quiet, but it was a bit strange.

“The blinds were shut all day and then open and all the lights on at night.”

Another added: “I am very shocked.

“It goes to show you don’t know who your neighbours are or what they might be up to.

“This is very scary stuff and I wouldn’t have expected anything like this here.”

A spokesman for the Met confirmed: “We have executed a search warrant.

“A woman and two men have been arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property.”

He said a “high value” quantity of cash and jewellery were discovered but had not yet been valued.

Operation Trident was set up in the capital in order to tackle gang violence and for the prevention and investigation of all shootings in London.
