SURVIVORS of the “Forgotten War” held a poignant act of remembrance as they proudly lowered their standard for the last time.
The British Korean Veterans Association is disbanding after more than 40 years. Most of its members are now in their eighties.
Chiefs say they want to “go out with our heads held high, rather than just fade away”.
Veterans from the Clacton branch handed over their standard to Tendring Council at a special ceremony.
It will be kept safe on display at the town hall.
The branch had about 100 members when it formed in 1968. Now there are fewer than 20.
Its roll of honour includes three men who were killed as UN forces tried to prevent the Communist North invading South Korea.
