Thieves have been condemned from stealing ffrom Halstead charity shops.
David Coulthread, 46, of Pretoria Road, witnessed a man stealing from the donation bags outside the East Anglian Children’s Hospice, in High Street, Halstead, which get left there when the shop is shut.
Mr Coulthread said: “Stealing of any type is wrong but from a charity shop it is just the worst."
Simon Hempsall, EACH Head of Marketing and Communications, said they had not received a report of the incident.
He added: “As a charity we rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our income, including shop revenue. Any theft would mean less funds to support local life-threatened children, young people and their families.
“Although rare, we would urge anyone who witnessed any theft or suspicious behaviour to immediately report it to our shop staff.”
