One of the most famous people to come from Witham has visited a children’s centre to see the good work being done in his home town.

Pop star and former X Factor contestant Olly Murs visited 46 children and family members at Brainwave Children’s Charity, based in Newlands Street, on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old, who is the charity’s patron, spent two hours chatting to relatives and the children, who attend the centre to improve their mobility, communication skills and learning potential through educational and physical therapies.

Mum-of-three Nikki Keyes, 42, of Avenue Road, Witham, was thrilled when Olly spoke to her 10-month-old daughter Florence, who has Down’s syndrome.
