FILM cameras descended on Clacton as crews used the town to shoot dramatic airborne footage for a hit TV show.

Celebrity architect George Clarke was in town to film the new series of Channel 4 show The Restoration Man.

It features the talented designer travelling around the country to save stunning old buildings by converting them into unique homes.

One of buildings featuring in the new series is an air traffic control tower in Scotland.

The TV crew used Clacton’s airfield as a base to film a history sequence illustrating the way the tower would have been used in the Second World War.

George told the Gazette: “We came down to the coast with the guy who will be doing the build up in Scotland.

“We got some spectacular shots. The Clacton coast is absolutely beautiful from above and will make for the perfect historical shots for the show.”

The presenter and camera crew took to the skies in two classic Tiger Moth planes.

The new series of The Restoration Man is set to air on Channel 4 this autumn.
